Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta vs Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 vs Capture One 5.1 Pro Well sorry for the lack of updates as i’ve been extremely busy with work! Here is the latest thing that i’ve been really looking into…RAW Editors! So here i’ve got 3 different RAW editors: Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 (current editor) Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta (consideration) Capture One 5 Pro (consideration) I know there is other programs out there, but i didn’t have the time to go through all of them! I have a image that i put though each of the 3 editors with all there respected defaults. You can see how each of the 3 RAW engines produce photo. You can see from the images below how far LR3 has come along with there noise control. The noise now is no longer just smudged, it’s now more like film grain. I would have to say how much I do like this look compared to ACR or C1. I’m not going to say that LR3 is the best, but overall it has a huge bonus over the other 2. What LR3 really lacks is speed(even moving the LR folder to another drive, cache is on my [...]

Robin aka Inglewood Junkyard Dog Who is the Inglewood Junkyard Dog…Its Robin! Robin has to be one of the most interesting people i have ever had the chance to meet in my life time at the moment. If you want to meet Robin you can usually see at the Bigfoot or in his shed reading harlequin romance books! (But beware he’s not too friendly if he doesn’t know!) RAW Therapee! Open Source RAW Editor! So you’ve starting using RAW in your new digital camera and you don’t have a RAW editor to utilize all that RAW has to offer? Well look no further Raw Therapee is a open source RAW editor, and better yet its free! (Please donate if you can.) I’ve done a bit of testing between Raw Therapee vs Adobe ACR(Adobe Camera Raw), results are not too bad at all. I think with some tweaking you can have just a good as results, but remember its free so don’t complain. Fetures and links after the jump. [Source: Imaging Resource] The most significant changes in the GUI are the following: * multi-tab interface * the real batch processing support arrived: select multiple images and adjust them together (the multi-adjust behavior of some parameters is selectable in the preferences dialog: they can be either additive or absolute) * completely re-written editor: preview and detail view are now gone. The main image view can be magnified as required, and only the necessary part of the image will be re-calculated. There is a small navigator, too, and infinitely many detailed views can be opened to investigate fine details. * 16 [...]
