Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta vs Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 vs Capture One 5.1 Pro Well sorry for the lack of updates as i’ve been extremely busy with work! Here is the latest thing that i’ve been really looking into…RAW Editors! So here i’ve got 3 different RAW editors: Adobe Camera Raw 5.6 (current editor) Adobe Lightroom 3 Beta (consideration) Capture One 5 Pro (consideration) I know there is other programs out there, but i didn’t have the time to go through all of them! I have a image that i put though each of the 3 editors with all there respected defaults. You can see how each of the 3 RAW engines produce photo. You can see from the images below how far LR3 has come along with there noise control. The noise now is no longer just smudged, it’s now more like film grain. I would have to say how much I do like this look compared to ACR or C1. I’m not going to say that LR3 is the best, but overall it has a huge bonus over the other 2. What LR3 really lacks is speed(even moving the LR folder to another drive, cache is on my [...]

Phase One Capture One Pro 5!!! Today Phase One released there brand new Capture One 5 Pro! Capture One is one of the best raw editors in the business, i rememeber when Phase One offered a glimpse of what the future holds for RAW editors when they had release Capture One 4. The interface of 4 looked miles ahead of 3, but sadly it was never a pro version! Phase One had to address this and they released 4 years later and now 5! Here are some of the new features: Live Preview Enhanced Speed up image composition, lighting, and focusing with Live Preview. Makes it possible for the photographer, art director, client, and others to easily view an image on a computer screen at the same time, in real-time. Especially useful with technical cameras. Live Preview is now available for both Mac and Windows and comes with improved performance. Focus Mask New Accelerate your image selection by using the Focus Mask for fast verification of image sharpness and focus. The Focus Mask is applied both to the image(s) in the viewer and to the thumbnails in the image browser. The Focus Mask is perfectly suited for portrait, wedding and [...]
