Ken Block – Gymkhana THREE – Part 2 Well folks here we go with Ken Block's lastest Gymkhana 3 Part 2, located l'Autodrome, France! With 2 million hits in 24hrs i guess they are pretty successful in getting everyone to watch this video! But you know what…I'm not a fan of this video. I think Ken Block going to the WRC, I think he's lost all of his driving abilities. Ken is the only driver in WRC without scoring a single point really and how does he still have a seat still. Well the video just filled with Ken just bouncing of the rev limiter and doing circular burn outs. Really? Come on! This video just plain boring! I think the only parts that were really cool was the launch, when you can see the car sit before taking off and the drift around the pylon near the top of high speed oval (the screen capture). Large portion was shot on RED, and in car (Canon 5D MKII) You be the judge, video after the jump! Source:[Youtube/Autoblog] It was shot on Red MX, HPX 170, Canon 5D MarkII, Canon 7D, and Go Pro. The POV was Canon and Go Pro. [...]

BMW’s Sebring Race Commercial Shot with Canon 5D Mark II Wow can you believe how much Canon’s HD-SLR’s have made a impact in the world of video. BMW using the 5D MKII to shoot there latest commerical for Sebring Race. There was some gear mishap as 5D MKII was lost in the filming of this commercial: Apparently one of BMW’s professional drivers, Dirk Muller, was being too aggressive while following the other M3 and accidentally rammed a Canon 5D Mark II and lens into the rear of the car. The poor camera and lens were splattered all over the Sebring track. Video after the jump! Source[PDNPluse]

Canon 1D MK4 vs Nikon D3s ISO Performance! Well here we go folks, NeutralDay Community has direct comparison between 2 flag ship cameras from the 2 major companies, Canon 1D MK4 vs Nikon D3s! From the pictures you can see that the Nikon is just a better performer in the low light. Nikon has perfected the 12MP range. Seems like the MK4 is pretty noisy from the images that were posted vs D3s, but the 5D MK2 files are better looking than the MK4? This is first comparison i’ve seen so far, i’m sure more are to come! Pix and direct link after the jump! Canon 5D MKII 1.2.4. Firmware Released!!! Looky here folks looks like Canon has released the newest firmware for the Canon 5D MKII! The 24p that we have been looking for is not to be found at all! All that was included was supports the WFT-E4 II pretty much! Aww! I guess we are going to have to wait longer i guess! Firmware Version 1.2.4 incorporates the following improvements and fixes. 1. Supports the WFT-E4 II wireless file transmitter that was released in December 2009. 2. Corrects a phenomenon in which visible noise may appear in images taken by continuous Bulb shooting. Firmware Version 1.2.4 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.1.0. If the camera’s firmware is already version 1.2.4, it is not necessary to update the firmware. In addition, after the firmware is updated, if the WFT-E4 or WFT-E4 II wireless file transmitter is used with the camera, the indications that appear under [Communication mode] on the [WFT settings] menu are changed as follows: * FTP -> FTP trans * PTP(PC) -> EOSUtility * HTTP -> WFTserver * HTTP account -> WFT account If you are setting the WFT-E2 II by using a computer, please download and use [...]

Canon 1D MKIV High ISO Sample Images! Well here are some samples images from Canon’s newest offering 1D MKIV! I do not know if this is pre-production firmware or production firmware, but either way its some high ISO images from the MKIV! From these sample images i would say that its about 1 stop better than 5D MKII, but i can’t give a true answer to that…I’m just saying comparing to my MKII to these images. New Canon 5D MKII Firmware! Manual Manual Manual!!! Wow finally did Canon really listen to its customers? Canon finally did what everyone wanted! Full MANUAL control over the video! I still don’t know why it took so long for them to realize that customers wanted this feature from the beginning. From day one since i’ve had this camera i’ve had to cheat around the the full auto control to control the aperture. Yes Canon you have made me happy! Now just give us the 24p and it will make up for the lack of new AF system! LONDON, UK, 27th May 2009: Canon announced today it will release a firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark II allowing users to manually control exposure when shooting video. The new firmware will be available for download from 2 June 2009 on Canon Europe’s support web site. Following the launch of the EOS 5D Mark II in September 2008, Canon’s Research and Development team has listened closely to customer feedback to develop additions to the camera’s movie recording functionality. Allowing EOS 5D Mark II owners to achieve even more stunning video results with the camera, the firmware update will include the following manual [...]

5D Mark Free audio meters from Trammell Hudson on Vimeo. 5D MKII Audio Hack video! Here Hudson shows some evidence that his hack is for real. You can clearly see that he updates the firmware and shows a audio display on the back LCD screen of the 5D MKII! “It isn’t perfect by a long shot, but we’re making very swift progress this holiday weekend. I found the VRAM and was able to write a small task that monitors the audio levels at 30 Hz and draws a very simple level meter on the top of the screen. It is calibrated with 5 dB tick marks, but the ballistics are bad and it isn’t synced with the redraw period (causing it to flicker), but we’re running real code doing real work on the camera!” Source:[Cinema5d;Canonrumors]
