Canon 7D Review The good people over at Imaging Resource have done there full in-depth review of the Canon 7D! Could Canon compete with the King of Prosumer, Nikon’s D300/D300s? Your going to have to click and find out! Review after the jump. Overall, the Canon 7D’s image quality is impressive, as are its printed results. It compares almost evenly to its competition at ISO 1,600, both from Canon and Nikon, but as expected there’s a noticeable difference when we compare this APS-C sensor to its full-frame rivals the Canon 5D and Nikon D3x, both of which earn the extra money their makers charge. Remembering that the Canon 7D costs quite a bit less than these full-frame cameras brings it back into perspective. In the end, the Canon 7D gives you a little more detail than its 15 and 12-megapixel competition, while maintaining impressively low noise, even at the highest ISOs. Canon 7D Double Trouble??? The word on the street that there is problem with Canon’s 7D where it will show during burst mode it will show the preceding frame. I have not seen this myself when shooting with the 7D, but i have not done alot of shooting with this camera. Phenomenon In images captured by continuous shooting, and under certain conditions, barely noticeable traces of the immediately preceding frame may be visible. This phenomenon is not noticeable in an image with optimal exposure. The phenomenon may become more noticeable if a retouching process such as level compensation is applied to emphasize the image. Firmware Update for Canon 7D! Here comes the first firmware update for the Canon 7D. Here is what the firmware includes: Firmware Version 1.0.9 incorporates the following fixes. 1. Improves AF accuracy during Live View shooting. 2. Corrects a phenomenon where in rare instances, movie images shot by the camera may exhibit abnormal colors. 3. Corrects a phenomenon that at certain timings, the shutter cannot be released when the camera’s built-in flash or an external Speedlite is used for shooting. Firmware Version 1.0.9 is for cameras with firmware up to version 1.0.8. If the camera’s firmware is already version 1.0.9, it is not necessary to update the firmware. Nikon D300 8fps with no battery grip!!!!! Well its not quite a hack, but its very cool to know that if you do have a Nikon D300 you can shoot 8fps! The only catch is that your only going to get 9 frames. Still very cool! Enjoy Nikon D300 owners!
